UNITED NATIONS  HUMAN RIGHTS

All people everywhere have the same human rights which no one can take away.
This is the basis of freedom, justice and peace in the world.

This Declaration affirms the dignity and worth of all people, and the equal rights of women and men. The rights described here are the common standard for all people everywhere.

Every person and nation is asked to support the understanding and respect for these rights, and to take steps to make sure that they are recognized and observed everywhere, for all people. Here are some of these human rights.

*Everyone is born free and equal and with dignity.

[Isn't this a wonderful statement? It embodies everything necessary: freedom, equality and dignity.]

*You should never be discriminated against for any reason.

*All people have rights, whatever our differences.

*Everyone has the rights to life, liberty and security.

*No one shall be held in slavery or servitude.

*No one shall be subjected to torture.

*You have the right to be treated as a person in the eyes of the law.

*No one has the right to intrude in your private life or interfere with your home and family without lawful reasons.

*You have the right to freedom of movement within your country.

*You have the right to seek and to enjoy asylum from persecution in other countries.

*You have the right to marry and to raise a family.

*You have the right to own property and it cannot randomly be taken away from you.

*You have the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion and to peacefully express those beliefs in teaching, practice and worship.

*You have the right to freedom of peaceful assembly.

*You have the right to take part in the government of your country.

*You have the right to work, to good working conditions, to equal pay for equal work and to form and join unions.

*You have the right to a decent life, including enough food, clothing, housing, medical care and social services.

*You have the right to an education.

*NO ONE SHALL BE

SUBJECTED TO TORTURE

Trump Amps Up His Call For Torture: ‘We’re Going To Have To Do Things That Are Unthinkable’

"I'd bring back waterboarding," Trump said during a February 7 debate. "And I'd bring back a hell of a lot worse than waterboarding."

FREEDOM OF RELIGION

Trump claimed in his acceptance speech to have the backing of the Christian Right.

*You have the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion and to peacefully express those beliefs in teaching, practice and worship.

CHRISTIAN RIGHT POLITICAL PRIORITIES

These individuals have the right to their own religious and political beliefs but it is not a proper agenda for the President of the United States.

1) What they want: A rollback on environmental protections. This is but one of many ways the religious right has merged its interests with that of corporate America.

2) What they want: For the government to take money from the public school system and give it to private schools in the form of vouchers.

3) What they want: No Equal Rights Amendment.

4) What they want: To end the teaching of evolution in schools.

5) What they want: To restrict access to abortion and contraception. They are opposed to abortion rights, but recently attacks on contraception access have been increasing.

STEVE PEARCE IS RUNNING
FOR CONGRESS AGAIN

HE HAS DONE GREAT HARM TO DONA ANA COUNTY AND SHOULD NOT BE RETURNED TO CONGRESS.

DONA ANA COUNTY NEW MEXICO

Sunshine County

Sunniest County

Dona Ana County, the 2nd Congressional district, is a poor county with high unemployment. What we do have is sunshine!! Lots and lots of sun.

Las Cruces has 350 days of sunshine in a year;  Albuquerque, 278.
El Paso, one of the sunniest large cities in the world, is just down
the road a piece. The same sun shines on El Paso and Las Cruces.

In the future when they publish a list of sunniest counties, Dona Ana County will be first; in the future when they publish a list of counties with the most Solar Energy Power, Dona Ana County will be first, and way out ahead of any other county.

PRESIDENT OBAMA

When President Obama made promises as a candidate, of wide scale solar installations to lessen this countries dependence on foreign oil and, as a very nice bonus, to provide training and jobs, I envisioned Dona Ana County pretty well blanketed with solar energy stations.

He has done more than any other president at a national level. One I liked very much was the BLM leasing geothermal rights to the greenhouse industry on land near Radium Springs. (Radium Springs is not too far down the road from where I live.)

He still has a few months in office. What about a large federal installation here?  I don’t mean jobs for a few people.  I mean several hundred people to be trained in renewable energy. If it were a federal installation, we would not be trampled into the ground by El Paso Electric.

The State of New Mexico

There is a State Work Force Program.  When I spoke to the owner of a local firm that installs solar energy panels, she told me that there were very few jobs for their training program through the State Work Force Program.

ONE THING THAT WE DO HAVE IS

THE SOLAR ENERGY PROGRAM AT

DONA ANA COMMUNITY COLLEGE!!

The Solar Energy Program at Dona Ana Community College is a very good answer. This program provides the student with a strong foundation in solar and alternative energy. A student may earn a Certificate and/or an AA degree in Solar Energy.  What I hope is that Dona Ana Democrats will see if we knew of anyone who might be interested in and able to pursue this program. Then recommend it to them.

You can get information about this program at

dacc.mnsu.edu.

1 Click on Program Studies in the upper left hand corner.
2. Chose Environment and Energy Technology from the alphabetical list.
3. The student may work for an Associates Degree (67 credits) or a Certificate of Completion. (18-31 credits)
4. At the top the student may click on How to Apply or to get Information on Financial Aid.

For further information, call the Program office at 575-527-7590.

New Mexico Senators Udall and Heinrich

Senators Udall and Heinrich obtained a $884,00 grant from the National Science foundation for the University of New Mexico to collaborate with Central New Mexico Community College to develop a certificate program in green construction technologies. This new program will help students gain the skills they need for the jobs of the future. This funding will help to pay for their training. With its incredible solar and wind potential, New Mexico has an opportunity to become a major producer and exporter of clean power.

From what I have read it seems like a very good program. But why didn’t they do something similar for us?  They owe us big time.  One or both of them should help us sponsor a Solar Power Job’s Fair in Dona Ana County.  They could give the speech that they gave in Albuquerque.  It was an excellent speech.  They could also cheer the Democratic candidates on.

Congressman Steve Pearce

It goes without saying that Congressman Pearce is not interested in training and jobs in solar and wind energy for his constituents. He has claimed that most of the solar and wind companies go bankrupt.  In fact less than one percent fail.

I called his office and asked him about his solar energy policy. He never returned my call.

Defeating Steve Pearce

Defeating Steve Pearce. There are more Republican than Democrats in congress.  Steve Pearce, a Republican for the 2nd Congressional District, is running for reelection.  When he runs for the House, he always seems to win.  He is a clone, a soul mate of Trump’s.  He would be a strong ally of his if – God forbid – Trump were elected. If Hilary Clinton is elected, he would be a strong opponent.
